I'm looking for Laurie (Laura) Álvarez. She was the daughter of Celestino Álvarez Menéndez (an Asturian) who was born about 1900.
Laurie must be about 60 years old now. I think she has two children, a boy and a girl. [Art: the kids are almost certainly adults by now.]
My father was Celestino's brother.

Celestino vivía en EE.UU., tenía una hija que se llama Laurie.

Celestino lived in th US and had a daughter named Laurie.
Celestino lived 6 months in Florida and the rest of the year in Massachusetts.

The Social Security Death Index lists only one Celestino Álvarez who was born in 1900. He was born on February 24, 1900 and his birth place is listed as "Europe." He died in 1970, probably in the state of Ohio, the location of his last benefit payment.

There is also a Celestino Álvarez born in 1915 who died in Massachusetts in 2000.

I am sure that this does not help much but your search peaked my interest and I am new to this Forrum so I thought I would try. Do you know where in Florida he stayed? I am from Tampa and my great grandfather's name was Celestino Alvarez, he was from Pravia. He was however much older than the Celestino you mention since my grandfather, Manuel Alvarez, was born in 1908. I ask what part of Florida because in Tampa there is a very large Asturian-American population and there is also the Centro Asturiano social club that maybe helpful. The club has been around for 100+ years so. Hope this helps!

Hello, I am new to this forum and realize your original post was several years ago. My mother - Elvira Alvarez Varon- passed away last fall. She had a storage unit in which I discovered many documents belonging to my grandparents- Benigno Alvarez Gonzalez and Maria Villanueva Alvarez. I don't speak spanish but am learning more everyday since this discovery, but I did find what I think is my grandfather's application for US citizenship in which- if I translated correctly- states that the first time he came to the United States was to visit the home of Celestino Alvarez in Tampa, Florida. I don't know if there is any familial relationship as this is the first time I've run across Celestino's name. I believe this visit occured in 1919 and he (Benigno) went back to Havana until 1921 before moving here to Tampa permanently. He is originally from Cuero? Candamo? Oviedo and dependending on which document you are reading was born in 1895,96, or 97 and died in 1978. He had several brothers- at least one remained in or returned to Asturias. I have not heard of Laura (yet) but will keep my eyes open for information and pass it along if you are still looking. I hope this will be of some help.
