| pendecullá: alverbiu. Per ende p’allá, Sinónimu: per allá alantre. Exemplu: ¿Ande topastes eses castañes? Pendecullá. English: Where did you find those chestnuts? Way over there/ way over yonder. |

Anybody up for West Asturian?
Here is the equivlalent for pendecullá in the western counties. We say acul.ló (pronounced a-cu-TSO). Here are some examples from County Allande:
Acul.ló vese'l castru San L.luis. (In the distance, you can see the hillfort of San Chuis.)
Tenemos el castañeu d'acul.ló.
D'acul.ló (on this side)
Xuan Bello, in his 'Hestoria Universal de Paniceiros' mentions a woman in Cuartu los Val.les (County of Tineu), who suffered neurological damage and all she was able to say was Al.liacul.lo, pronounced A-TSI-A-CU-TSO, which meant roughly 'right over there'.
So people would ask her, 'How are you doing?' And she would respond: 'Al.liacul.lo'. 'What are you having for lunch?': 'Al.liacul.lo'.
Art: where are currency markets going? 'Al.liacul.lo'!

Well, I'll be. Thanks, Paul (Is) for testing the limits for me.
The word of the week feature isn't acting the way I expected. Luckily, if the post isn't in a new topic, it won't show on the home page. That's good as it lets people discuss the terms, as Paul has done.
This is excellent.

Vaya....

Hey, it IS a great idea to add examples or comment on the Word of the Week.
In this case, Is has added the "Allandés" variant (from county Allande), which is a great way to enhance the many linguistic possibilities we have in this our little corner of the world.

Sí que es muy buena idea añadir ejemplos o comentar la palabra de la semana. En este caso Is ha añadido la variante en allandés, lo que pone de manifiesto las muchas posibilidades lingüísticas que tenemos en este rincón nuestro del mundo. |

I may not have been clear. What I wanted to say is that the reply by Is (Paul) to a post is good, even excellent.
When I wrote the guidelines, I didn't realize that replies to messages would work. I'll change the guidelines. Keep replying to threads!

Tal vez no me explicara bien. Quiere decir que la respuesta de Is (Paul) a un mensaje de Terechu está bien, hasta fantástica.
Cuando escribé las pautas, no sabía que respuetas a mensajes funcionaría. Voy a cambiar las directrices. ¡Sigue respondiendo a hilos! |
