|pulavil.la: pronounced Poo-lah-VEE-tsah, Chiefly West Asturian. Polavila: Poh-lah-VEE-lah, Chiefly Galician. An informal get-together or casual gathering at someone’s house in rural Asturias, especially during winter months.
The word literally means 'around town' and describes a walk through a town or village setting that ends up in someone’s house almost by chance. Synonyms at shindig, function, party, meeting, social event, parley, buzz session or winter powwow.
