Our Lady of Pastur is a sanctuary in Eilao (Illano). In old times, when the mountains were not still underpopulated, before everybody migrated, this used to be a very famous sanctuary. An enormous yew, as often happens in Asturian chapels, grows by its side: yews used to be sacred trees long before locals started to pray to Our Lady. This is only one example of the way pagan ways survived along with Christian religion. Now please, see the strange carving that stands in the tower of the church. A warrior can be clearly seen, shouting in rage and wielding a sword.
What does that mean? What is that warrior doing on the top of a Church?
I love Pastur, really

No pude entrar en la página que indicas. La iglesia de qué siglo es y a qué santo está consagrada? El guerrero podría ser Santiago (Matamoros), San Jorge o San Martín, pero no he podido verlo.

I couldn't access the site you point out. In what century was the church built and to which saint is it consacrated? The warrior could be St. James (the Moor Slayer), St. George or St. Martin, but I haven't been able to see it.

Hi, Terechu,
I'm not sure what the problem is, but it doesn't work for me either, but it did work yesterday. It's probably Geocities' problem.
Instead, try this. Click on this link:
http://www.geocities.com/mouguias/Imagenes/Pastur.jpg
You'll probably get a message that the file couldn't be found. Then in the address bar, removed the http:// part. Leave the part that says: www.geocities.com/mouguias/Imagenes/Pastur.jpg
Click on "go". For some reason that works! It's bizarre.

Hola, Terechu,
No entiendo que pasa con este enlace, pero no functiona para mi tampoco. Ayer, functionaba bien. Probablamente es un error de Geocities.
En cambio, prueba este. Haga click sobre este enlace:
http://www.geocities.com/mouguias/Imagenes/Pastur.jpg
Probablemente conseguirás un mensaje que el archivo no podía ser encontrado. Entonces en la barra de dirección, quitó el parte que dice:
http://
Y dejar el resto:
www.geocities.com/mouguias/Imagenes/Pastur.jpg
Haz click sobre "go" ("Ir"?). Pienso que este irá al foto. Es una locura, pero functiona. |
