Sure, Soledad, it is the street nowadays called Ramon y Cajal. The thick wall seen in the photo, is today's school of Manolo "the one-armed." And the tables close to the wall were used in the market that there was set up, as I had heard.
I congratulate you for your collection, they are non common. I hope you continue posting more.

I wanna know if anybody has a photo of that bridge placed in the middle of Salinas's beach, it was used to cross a watercourse over where the Arnao-San Juan de Nieva's train passed.
I have a nice memory of that bridge, painted in red and white. When we were childrens we were allways playing in the railway track and as we see how came the train we put stones in the track thinking we can made it to derail.
As i asked before please if anybody has a picture and want to show it to us, i'll be very pleased.

Dr. Perez

Post by soledad »

I'm sorry i don't have that bridge, we will have to continue looking for it. What i have is a couple of things of your great-granfather, the doctor Pérez, maybe you have it yet, but i'm going to post it becuase it's possible than people doesn´'t know that he has a statue in Salinas.

This other put that he was mayor of Salinas, and if the photo is not bad dated, the statue was placed at 1913.

Vaya foto, no había visto ninguna tan antigua.

What a photo, i have seen none such old. It's incredible, there wasn't anything.

This one is newer, they are the buildings behind the old post office. Somebody told me they were hotels.

Igacio's phoot of Salinas in 1884 shows the house my grandfather was born in ten years after the photo was taken. It is the large building on the edge of the water about one third of the way from the right hand edge of the photo. The building is now occupied by the Guardia Civil.

I am glad Bob, in the picture you can see something familiar.
You say that the headquarters of the Civil Guard, is no longer
Hence, it's this house no longer exists.
Also there was El Parador, or Casa La Nena, a bar famous throughout the council. I remember that made some fabulous tripe.
