Spanish home-style cooking / cocina casera española

Post by Terechu »

So far the best web site I have found with easy, unexpensive everyday recipes is the one by TV chef Carlos Arguiñano:
www.karlosnet.com

There are thousands of recipes for just about everything edible, including great desserts.

Wow, that site does have a lot of recipes. Are these primarily "Spanish" recipes? Are some of them Asturian? These may sound like naive questions, but what I'm wondering is how as Asturian would view them.

Art, I would say it is definitively Spanish recipes, because it has just about every dish from every region. In addition, there are over 4.000 recipes mailed in by members: "Recetas de l@s soci@s", which include those he had left out (Fabada for instance). There are also recipes for vegetarians, diabetics, etc. Karlos Arguiñano has a daily TV show and is very well known throughout Spain and Latin America. His sister Eva is the "pastry chef", and she makes some great desserts, as well.

I'm glad you enjoy it, Bob. I find it very useful, especially the cooking school chapter "Escuela de cocina", which also has a great sub-chapter about never-fail kitchen tricks (how to peel onions without tears, etc.).

Cheers
