pulavil.la: pronounced Poo-lah-VEE-tsah, Chiefly West Asturian. Polavila: Poh-lah-VEE-lah, Chiefly Galician. An informal get-together or casual gathering at someone’s house in rural Asturias, especially during winter months.

The word literally means 'around town' and describes a walk through a town or village setting that ends up in someone’s house almost by chance. Synonyms at shindig, function, party, meeting, social event, parley, buzz session or winter powwow.

Usage examples:

Guei hai pulavil.la en Ca’l Chano. [There’s a get-together today at the House of Chano.]
Despueis del Ruxidoiru vei haber una pulavil.la na Puela. [After the Ruxidoiru, a village shindig will take place in La Puela.]
Nolo apuntase a tolas pulavil.las de la redolada. [Nolo can’t help going to all the village shindigs nearby.]
