The Celts

Most of you probably know that Asturias has a Celtic heritage. I keeps asking myself, "Who exactly were the Celts?" Now at one time the celts were spread far across western and central Europe. Are the celts linked together by a common religion or language? Are they linked together by common heritage? Or is celt just a label given to the pre-historic people of Europe.

I hope someone can answer my question!
