Wow, some of these provide a sad commentary, like:
. Due to the derailment of the tunnelling machine near the Irún train station seven people lost their lives; fortunately the dead travelled third class.

I'm not sure I get this one:
. The thieves furtively entered the "dressing room" of Our Lady del Juncal.

Is it that la Virgen del Juncal is a statue, so her modesty and virginity isn't really an issue?

Oops, this one is missing the reference to zero to zero in the English version:
. The match between the Real Unión and the Atlético Madrileño ended with a tie zero to zero. The result at half-time was the same.

-------------

. Due to the derailment of the tunnelling machine near the Irún train station seven people lost their lives; fortunately the dead travelled third class.

No estoy seguro que entiendo este:
. The thieves furtively entered the "dressing room" of Our Lady del Juncal.

. The match between the Real Unión and the Atlético Madrileño ended with a tie zero to zero. The result at half-time was the same.

Art, I don't know where they kept the "Virgen del Juncal" figure, but I presume it was in a chamber within the church or chapel, but instead of using the word "cámara" (chamber, vault) they used the word "camerino". Camerinos are the dressing rooms in theaters and movie sets and therefore the word is strongly linked to show-business. I can just see the folks of Irun fixing up a flashy dressing room for their Virgin Mary!

As to the dead travelling third class, I can only imagine that what he really meant to say was that luckily the second and first class coaches were not affected, because then the death toll would have been much higher.

Cheers

Ah, that makes sense for the Virgin. Thanks. And your idea about what the author meant about "fortunately the dead travelled third class" does make it sound less callous!

Ah, si, tienes sentido sobre la Virgen. Gracias.
