Origins of Asturian Place Names

Post by Bob »

I highly recommend Xosé Lluis García Arias's book, Pueblos Asturianos: El Porqué de Sus Nombres (ISBN 84-87562-21-3) to anyone interested in the origins of Asturian place names. The book is in castellano.

If you cannot find the book locally, you can order it online from Asturshop.com in Oviedo, Asturias. It is priced at a little over 25 euros, plus shipping.

Asturian place names

Existen muchos estudios parciales sobre toponimia, pero al anterior yo le añadiría otro:

"TOPONIMIA DE ORIGEN INDOEUROPEO PRERROMANO EN ASTURIAS", Martín Sevilla, ed. IDEA o RIDEA (Asturian Studies Institution or Royal Institution, the name changed)

Translated by Terechu

There are many partial studies on toponymy, however I would another one to the preceding:

"Toponymy of Indo-European Pre-Roman origin in Asturias", Martin Sevilla. Edit. IDEA or RIDEA
