Message to Translator Volunteers / Mensaje a los Voluntarios

Post by Art »

Dear friends,

We are excited by the strong response to our request for help in translating the AsturianUS.org site. Thank you for volunteering!

We have prepared a list of guidelines explaining the purpose and methods of the translations. You may read these guidelines in this section of the forum at: http://www.asturianus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=316 If you have any questions or comments, please let us know.

We would like to set up teams of two or more volunteers that would work together on a section of the forum or the Web site. Ideally, we would like to pair (at least) one Castilian speaker with an English-speaker. Teams would be available to consult with each other and check each other's work. With luck, perhaps they'll become friends!

The first step, then, is for each volunteer to choose one or more sections of the forum or site to work on. Some areas of the forum are more active than others. Please check to see whether the sections you are signing up for have many or very few messages. One team, for example, might want to do all of the "Recipes & Foods" sections, but the "Genealogy" section might need extra members.

There is a "sticky" message in the forum at: http://www.asturianus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=312 where you can view the sections and who has signed up for each of them. When you have chosen a section to work on, tell the rest of us by replying to the thread. Feel free to write comments or questions, too. We will try to keep the master list in the first message of the thread up-to-date.

A project like this could become overwhelming. Please remember that we don't expect the work to be finished overnight, and we don't want anyone to feel pressure to do more than they feel comfortable with. With many of us working on it, we hope this project will be enjoyable. If at some point in time you have too much work (or too little), be sure to tell us!

Best wishes,
Art, Bob, & Suronda

Saludinos,
Art, Bob, y Suronda
