When I was in Oviedo, I had something similar to a hot-pocket. I looked more like a ball. It was like a meatball in dough similar to that used for bollinas. There was an orange color due to the grease coming through the dough. My questions are: What is this called?
Does anyone have a recipe for it?

Cuando era en Oviedo, comí algo semejante a un "hot pocket" (empanada americana ja ja..) Perezcó casi como un globo. Es como un albóndiga cubriendo por una masa semejante a la que usa para hacer bollinas. La masa perezcó araranjada por la grassa del carne. ¿Qué es?
¿Algiuén lo tiene receta?

Lo siento por el castellano escrito tan malo.

Hi Eric,

It seems to me that what you had was a bollo preñau (pregnant bread roll) It usually stuffed with chorizo -sometimes bacon too - but not with meatball. The orangish colour comes from the chorizo drippings (paprika) that impregnate the bread dough when that is put in the oven.

In Oviedo is tradition to eat in the Martes de Campo together with some sidra

Creo que te estas refiriendo a un bollo prenado. Que normalmente esta relleno de chorizo - a veces panceta - per no carne de albondiga. El color anarajando proviene de la salsa del chorizo(pimenton) que se impregna con la masa de pan al hornearse.
Hubo una mencion anterior a los bollo preñaus en otro post

The ones pictured look almost identical to the ones I make. The recipe is simple. Make (there are two recipes in this forum) or purchase some good quality chorizos caseros asturianos (don't forget to look for smoked ones. Wrap them thinly is pizza dough (or make your own bread dough) and let it rise for a while. Then bake until done. If you lightly precook the chorizos, you can use a shorter cooking time, but you get more of the orange fat into the bread dough if you do not do this.

the Martes de Campo o Martes de Bollu se celebra el primer Martes de Pentescostes y conmemora la donacion de bienes que una vecina de Oviedo (dona Velasquita Giraldez) hizo en el ano 1232 a un albergue de pobres.

Desde esa fecha y para celebrar ese hecho, se creo una cofradia que celebra una procesion con la imagen de la virgen de la Esperanza, tras la cual se celebraba un almuerzo entre los cofrades en el que se repartia un ligero almuerzo en el que se incluia un bollo y poco de vino

En 1540 se recoge una de las sesiones del Cabildo de la cofradía, sobre la procesión de la Virgen de la O, que tenía lugar anualmente en la ermita de Santa Ana de Mexide. La imagen, que iba acompañada por una comitiva de 34 sacerdotes, seis cantores y los cofrades con velas encendidas, era recibida en la antigua capilla de Santa Susana por el cura de la parroquia de San Pedro tras lo cual seguía su camino. La distancia a recorrer daba pie a continuas paradas y en Mexide, tras la misa cantada, se celebraba un almuerzo, con el reparto entre los cofrades de un torrezno, un bollo y vino.

En 1930, un grupo de ovetenses decidió crear la Sociedad Protectora de la Cofradía de La Balesquida. Balesquida es una corrupcion del nombre de Velasquita

Martes de Campo (Tuesday in the park) or Tuesday of the bollu is being celebrated in Oviedo the first Tuesday of Penthecostes and conmemorates the donation of foods and clothes made to the poors in 1232 by Velasquita Giraldez, neighbour of Oviedo.

Since that date a fellowship was created and to commemorates that fact there was a religious procession in Oviedo showing the image of Virgen of Esperanza. After the long procession there was a lunch that included a bollu and some vino that hand over to the fellowmen.

The records of the year 1540 showed that that the procession was lead by the imagen of the virgin, 34 priests, 6 singers and the fellowmen carrying candles The procession went from Santa Ana de Mexide (outskirts of Oviedo) to Santa Susana.

In 1930 a group of naturals of Oviedo created the association of Balesquida to keep and protect the tradition. Balesquida is a corruption of the name of Velasquita.
