Juanma_Vega,
Traduccion: Gules being red indicates military resolution and magnanimity. Cresta: Three ostrich plumes Origen: Espana." Tambien informacion cerca el nombre Vega origen. No sé exacto es.
Mis abuelos fue de Asturias, Rufino Vega y Florentina Alonso Fernandez. Es posible somos primos de primos!
Me gusto su photographias! Saludos desde USA/Ohio/Centerburg.

Juanma_Vega,
My Spanish is very poor, but with a little help from Babel Fish, an online translation engine, I hope that you will be able to read this note. We have a name in common, "Vega." And, I am curious about the coat of arms. Is this coat of arms accurate for the name "Vega?" I have a document I obtained in Florida, USA in 1999 which describes the Armas, Traduccion, Cresta and Origen for our name. I don't know how accurate it is.
(Please see English above for verbage, I could not translate.) Also, I have more information concerning the origen of "Vega" and I scanned that document, but I don't understand the instructions on how to add photos/attachments to my message here in the forum.
My grandparents were from Asturias, Rufino Vega and Florentina Alonso Fernandez. It is possible we are cousins of cousins!
I enjoyed your photographs! Greetings from USA, Ohio, Centerburg!!
Betty Vega Fockler
PS: I could send you a private email with the document attached if you are interested.

Hola Betty,
http://personales.com/espana/alicante/h ... nlaces.htm

For the new forum members, this link to the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE) will be quite interesting. You can look up where in Spain your surnames are most frequent, by birth and by place of residence. Most are still largely concentrated in their regions of origin, although some will surprise you, i.e. the Asturian surname "Porrúa" is more frequent in the southern Spanish province of Cadiz than in Asturias itself.

Juan, thank you so much for the information ! I certainly enjoyed reviewing the information about the coats of arms. I did not realize they differed from region to region. The pictures of your grandparents are quite impressive. As my father used to say,".. there is the map of Spain all over their faces!" My brother has posted some photographs of our family on the album area of this forum. He, Roberto, is also working on our family tree. He has much information and he has shared some within this forum in the genealogy section. Also he has a personal website with more data. I will draw his attention to your postings.
Betty

Juan Manuel, I see that you've figured out how add photos . That's great. The software doesn't allow Word documents to be posted in the forum.
Betty, there are several threads in the forum that deal with coats of arms. One surname can have many different coats of arms. They were assigned to an individual and aren't carried down through the generations. That probably explains why you can see Asturian houses with 3-4 coats of arms on them. See Terechu's explanation here:

--------------------------

Hello, I'm writing form Murcia, Spain. My grandmother is from Borbolla and that photo was taken en the door of her house. My aunt Ofelia is coming out [of the door] and is a member of the Vega Perez family. If you want, we can try to check out more details.
Best wishes.

Hola,
Art y RakelGoma,
saludos a ambos
