Hello. It was me who opened the thread asking if someone knew how to buy this DVD. As I understand it seems it is available in the USA.

I'd like to know if they send it to Asturies, if it is available in a shop or it is a person who sell it, as well as the price and how the payment would be made. If someone can help me...

Saludos,

Ana

Hi Gauzon,
I've just sent the WVPB an e-mail asking it would be possible to buy the DVD from Spain and if so, how the payment would be made.

As soon as I'll get an answer I'll tell you. I guess there would be several people interested in buying the documentary.

Regards,
Ana

Ken, "b goatee" is probably "bigote," which means moustache. Did he have a moustache?

Bob's right that he's called "Bigote", but he no longer has a mustache. Ron could tell us if he did earlier. He appears in the second photo (first row, center column) on this page:

Yes, he did. That's where the nickname "Bigote" came from. He showed me a photo this past week of himself and, yes, he had a bigote. By the way, he is 93. We need his oral history done!

Thanks, Ron.

As to oral history, I'm hoping that oral history will be a big part of the next Asturian conference. But we're running out of time to collect these stories.

Maybe Suronda could train Ron to do the work now? It might also be possible to involve students and faculty from Fairmont State University in collecting the oral history. It's possible, though, that Ron would be able to get better results because of his close connections to so many there in Spelter.

--------------------------

Gracias, Ron.

--------------------------

Luis Argeo says that the documentary is still not for sale in Asturias, but that people who want to buy it can put pressure on Asturian newspapers by calling the sales department. This summer Luis suggested that one Sunday they sell the documentary, at any price they want, because there are so many people interested in it in Asturias. The response was, as expected, negative and silence. It makes Luis angry that in the U.S. they are so interested in the documentary and the history that the film is selling for 30 dollars, while in Asturias, with every chance in the world, the newspapers are not showing the least interest.

Luis asks that everyone call the business office of La Nueva España,, El Comercio, and La Voz de Asturias to ask for the dvd of AsturianUS. It is possible that someone will wake up and become convinced that they can also do a little business with this!

Alright, Asturias! That's our marching orders!

Saludos a tod@s,

Ana

I would like to buy a copy of AsturianUS to send to my cousins in Asturias. But, don't they have different region codes for their DVD players? It won't play in a European format, right?

All I know is that DVDs produced in Spain play fine on the DVD
players built into my laptops.

If you look online, you may find some programs that alter the regional code playing ability of your computer's DVD player. As I understand it, the regional codes started out as a way to maximize profit by charging more for DVDs in certain countries. The codes have been outlawed in a few countries as anti-fair trade.
