Does anyone know of the "Probe la manta"? This was a caped character that would prowl around and snatch children who wandered too far from home. My abuela would tell us this story to keep us from going too far and onto the busy road nearby.
I don't know if the name, spelling, or pronunciation are correct.
Thanks.

I've never heard of it, but I guess is more or less tha same as "el hombre del saco", who came for you if you were out late at night or if you were naughty.

It reminds me of "probe del sacu" too. Probe is equivalent to "pobre" en castellanu, I think, and can refer to a beggar, but also to the mythical character who carries away naughty children (how I ever escaped, I'll never know).
