Spellcheck email 2nd lang. - corrección ortografía 2° len

Post by Art »

I learned today that you can spell check your emails in a second language if you use Microsoft Office 2003 (or just Word) and Outlook Express. (I'm not sure this is possible with earlier versions.)

The various language dictionaries come with Microsoft Office. If you want to add a language besides the default, you have to enable it.

In Window XP, on the Start menu, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Office Tools, and then click Microsoft Office 2003 Language Settings.

In Windows 2000, on the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft
Office Tools, and then click Microsoft Office 2003 Language Settings.

Windows Language settings:
Step 1: Change the default language:
  • In the Control Panel, double-click Regional Settings.
  • On the Regional Settings tab, click the new language you want to use, e.g. Spanish or English (US), and then click OK.
  • If you are prompted to restart the computer, do so.
(You'll probably have to restart your computer.)

Step 2: Choose which dictionary to use in Outlook Express:
  • In Outlook Express, click on Tools.
  • On the dropdown menu choose Options.
  • In the Options window choose the Spelling tab.
  • If you haven't already, select the first two Settings: Always check spelling before sending, and Suggest replacements for misspelled words.
  • At the bottom of the window select Spanish (International Sort) or English (United States) and click OK.
This choice will remain active until you change it. You can not select two dictionaries at once, and you can not change without going into the Tools menu. But it works!
