Hi Stamargo
We first wrote our stories in English and later translated them into Spanish. Unfortunately, we were unable to interest a publisher in the English version. We do have the English version on a CD-ROM and throughout the years I've mailed quite a few CDs to those interested.

In addition to the post about our book "We Came Alone - Solos en America", the other news is that most of my American family finally visited Asturias . We were there in late June/early July. Unfortunately, my home in Castandiello had already been demolished for the construction of the new ...

It's been some time since my last post on the Forum, so I thought it's time for an update. For a few years now, our group here in the U.S. have been busy writing our stories for a book. Since most of us are no longer very fluent in Spanish, several members of the Forum helped us with the translation...

Roberto Pando Thank you for posting your intertesting article. Although all members of our refugee group were too young to be in the Spanish Air Force, maybe some may have had relatives that were, therefore I'm forwarding your post to them. In case your group is interested, we would be glad to contr...

The CD is in the mail. You should get it in about 7 to 10 days.

Stamargo
Thanks for your comments. No, I don't anticipate a reunion. We are just too scattered . I hope you have success in finding your Spanish relatives.

It can be arranged.....once details of where to mail the CD are known.
However, I should note that most of the stories are written in English.

Andres You won't find Felipe Llerandi's "Castillos de Arena" nor our "We Came Alone -Los ninos de la guerra" listed anywhere. They are self-published books and are not commercially available. Our book consists of approximately 20 stories written by the individuals recollecting th...

Andres This probably won't be much help, but our compiled stories of Spanish Civil War refugees that came to the U.S is available in a CD. Although it is mostly in English, portions of it are in Spanish. A few of the stories have been translated into Spanish by Terechu (in Gijon) and Paco Mori (in O...

 Although the results from the search for the refugee group has slowed down, some progress is being made. We have been searching for the three Diaz brothers, Benjamin, Argimiro and Luis, from Sama de Langreo. The good news is that we have located them. Unfortunately, Benjamin and Argimiro are d...

Actually, my concern is not about immigrants that obtain jobs and pay their share of taxes. It is about those that do not pay taxes and therefore increase the tax burden on others. As for the demonstrations of the last few days, I'm not sure that they are conveying the correct message. It is perfect...

Well, although I don't think that passing new laws or building fences is the solution to illegal immigration, something needs to be done to stem the flow. Right now, our economy can absorb the immigrants because business is relatively good and they constitute cheap labor. However, there's a big head...

[from an email to members of the children's refuge group, with permission from Corsino] Although some members of our group think that political subjects are best not discussed because they are divisive, I do not think that it's necessarily the case. Discussions of any type need not be divisive. They...

Well, it has been quite a while since there's been news about our search for Spanish Civil War refugees in the U.S. But the search has been going on nevertheless. The good news is that just today, thanks to information provided by Saul Fernandez of La Nueva Espana, we located three more Asturians. A...

Paco Morales Thanks for clearing up the confusion. I'm writing in English because , from your writings, it appears that you are fluent in it. I read Blanco's interesting story. I'll have to see if there are any more stories on that same website. As you may already know, our small group has been comp...
