I've been following the conversation about the planned simposio for 2008. I think the idea fits very well with ideas that Kenya and Mark from the archives at U. of Southern Florida had. Wouldn't it be great to get a team of folks gathering histories? I think this is very do-able since we have a var...

Well Art, The difference is basically that the romería is celebrated in the afternoon, and the verbena is celebrated in the evening or by night (it can last until down). That's what say the R.A.E dictionary: romería .

------ It's true, Terechu, that I presumed you was going to ca...

A reflexion about Atheism. In one sense, the first atheists were the Christians, because they said that the pagan gods didn't really existed. The jews didn't said that there were an only god. They adored only a god, but there were others. The pagans (greeks, romans) adored their own gods but they adm...

writer H.P.Lovecraft and Asturias

I have recently read the tale "The mound" by H.P.Lovecraft. In this tale there is a character who is an asturian "hidalgo" from Luarca. Lovecraft seems to know where Asturias and that here the country people speak a "patois" or dialect called bable (although I have read...

Art, Yes, you are right. Although I'm sure that Carlos could explain you it much better than me, I'll tell you that it's a subject that many people in Spain critisize. It's the "closed lists" subject: you vote a party but not individual members of its. Each party propose a list of people w...
