BISARMA is usually applied to the feminine gender: una bisarma, la bisarma
Definitions:
- Ghost, apparition
- Skeleton
- Figure, aspect or presence of a person, in general, non-grata
Variants
bisarmia, el bisarma (male gender).
Phrase:
Esa gatina parez una bisarmia (That kitten is very skinny)
In the Diccionario de la Lengua Española the word BISARMA has a very different meaning. In Spanish BISARMA means HALBERD, a medieval spear axe. Perhaps, the slender shape of this axe, with a wooden lance of 2 meters long, was the origin of the Asturian meaning given to this word.

BISARMA
Se aplica generalmente al género femenino
Definiciones:
- Fantasma, aparición
- Esqueleto

Thanks, Marta! I've never seen that word before! I also enjoyed your comparison of the Castilian and Asturian meanings. |

Hi, Art,
thanks for your words.
I have now a kitten called "Bisarmia" because it is very small and thin for her age. I hope she grows and becames a nice cat, although the name will be for ever.
Marta. |

Well, then, I hope to meet Bisarmia some day! Let's hope she doesn't earn a reputation related to the Castilian version of the word! |
